Chimbusco Pan Nation Petro-Chemical, Hong Kong's top shipping fuel supplier, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in China by refueling an ocean-going vessel with an eco-friendly marine biofuel blend. This achievement, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional bunker fuel, took place aboard a vessel operated by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, a Japanese shipping company, last month. It aligns with global efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the maritime industry and meet the International Maritime Organisation's decarbonisation goals.

In response to the IMO's call for decarbonisation, Chimbusco is actively seeking cost-effective, long-term alternatives. Among the options being explored are methanol, liquefied natural gas (LNG), ammonia, and various renewable energy sources for vessels. This innovative use of marine biofuels demonstrates the industry's commitment to transitioning to greener shipping practices, contributing to a more sustainable future in the maritime sector.
