Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced Singapore's plan for a second LNG terminal during SLNG's 10th-anniversary gala dinner. Wong revealed that the terminal is projected to have a capacity of up to 5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to address the nation's growing energy requirements and enhance energy security.

While the current LNG terminal has a capacity of approximately 10 mtpa, Wong emphasized the necessity for expansion as LNG demand continues to rise. Despite the current terminal's 60% peark utilization this year, Wong acknowledged that additional capacity is essential to meet future demands.
